A invenção da Natureza

About

The Invention of Nature is a live theater and music performance by Gira Sol Azul, inspired by the homonymous book by historian Andrea Wulf. It tells the story of Alexander von Humboldt, the German naturalist and explorer who, more than two hundred years ago, perceived that the Earth functions as a living organism and changed the way we look at nature, the world and the universe. On stage, the voice, piano and percussion of Ana Bento, the guitar of Bruno Pinto and the voice and cello of Úrsula Pinto come together with the manipulation of objects and real-time video image, performed by Maria Mónica. The scenic direction and movement are by Joana Providência, and the scenography and costumes by Patrícia Costa (DonaPata). The result is a journey through soundscapes, visuals and sensory experiences, from one corner of the world to the other. The performance invites you to listen and look closely, and recalls Humboldt's ideas that remain current today, such as profound respect for nature and the desire to preserve it. It is aimed at ages 6 and over and can be enjoyed as a family.
