About

"Art", by Yasmina Reza, is a comedy about friendship and vanity, directed by António Pires. On stage are Cristóvão Campos, Nuno Lopes and Rui Melo, three renowned names in Portuguese theatre and television. The story begins with an apparently simple gesture: Sérgio buys a completely white painting with white streaks, signed by a highly acclaimed contemporary artist. Marco does not hide his disbelief and Ivo attempts, with little success, to act as a mediator. A difference in taste quickly transforms into a battle of egos, resentments and witty revelations. The play portrays adult friendships, ego and the difficulty in accepting different points of view, amidst laughter, silences and tensions. It has a duration of 120 minutes and an age rating of M14.
