As Mulheres do Valentino José

About

"The Women of Valentino José" is a comic suspense play presented by Avai Lama Theater Group, from Lama, in Barcelos. A crime triggers the action and eight women from the same family simultaneously become detectives and suspects, in an investigation full of mystery, humor and plot twists where nothing is exactly as it seems. The staging and dramaturgy emerged from a creative process inspired by improvisation theater techniques, with characters and conflicts discovered collectively throughout rehearsals. Live music accompanies the succession of unexpected situations, where laughter coexists with tension, and each family member reveals a comic and tragic side, in which the audience can recognize their own relationships. The scenery is minimalist: a black piano in constant movement and a white backdrop cut into vertical strips. The show is part of the Festival de Teatro João d'Almeida, an amateur theater festival, organized by Ribalta Theater Group.
