Axiom Casino

About

Axiom Casino is a dance piece for two performers, set inside a casino machine where each gesture is read and controlled. Guided by voices, two players enter a luminous game made of commands, rewards and errors, which gradually transforms into a trap. The logic of the game is interrupted by the arrival of an unexpected entity. The human form dissolves and a communication between species begins. Direction and choreography are by Jonathan Uliel Saldanha, who also signs the dramaturgy and text, together with Gonçalo Guiomar and Catarina Miranda. Ana Isabel Castro and Deeogo Oliveira perform and co-choreograph. Sound is by Gonçalo Penas, lighting and video by Gonçalo Guiomar and Bárbara Paixão, and objects and prosthetics by Júlio Alves. Production is by SOOPA, with co-production by the festival DDD - Dias da Dança. Presented at Caixa de Palco, for ages 6 and up.
