Bastien e Bastienne
Ópera em Marionetas
About
Bastien and Bastienne is a puppet opera, sung in Portuguese, based on W. A. Mozart's youthful work. The Orquestra das Beiras and Ópera Nómada present it in a co-production with Teatro Aveirense and the Câmara Municipal de Aveiro. The story is a small triangle of deceptions. Bastienne, insecure, fears that Bastien, fickle, no longer cares for her. Colas, half-wise and half-charlatan, advises her to appear cold. Amidst magic tricks, threats and bouts of jealousy, the two reconcile and end up praising their advisor. The concept and musical direction are by Jan Wierzba, who signs the translation and Portuguese version with Júlia Durand. João Fino is responsible for the visual conception and the creation and manipulation of the puppets. Leonor Eiras (Bastienne), João Barbas (Bastien) and Rodrigo Calais (Colas) provide the voices for the characters. It is a show designed for families, with a short and easy-to-follow story.
