Boas Festas em Aveiro is the Christmas, New Year's Eve and São Gonçalinho Festival programme that the Aveiro City Council organises every year for those who live in the city and for those who visit it. It fills Aveiro with luminous structures, with the Grande Árvore de Natal as its signature image, and offers performances of various artistic expressions for all ages, mostly free and open access. It was followed by 43 days of programming, with over 150 artists and 85 events: concerts, contemporary circus, videomapping, ice skating rink and Santa's Workshop, with strong participation from local cultural associations and artists. New Year's Eve usually brings people together in Praça do Rossio and at Canal Central, with live music and fireworks over the ria.
