About

The Portuguese Bonsai Congress comes to Águeda for the first time and dedicates two days to one of the most meticulous art forms linked to nature. The proposal is to show that bonsai is more than miniature trees: behind each specimen lies patient work of construction, guidance and composition, which can require years or decades. The program includes live demonstrations with two international names, Japanese Chiharu Imai and German Theo Zimmer, which allow you to see the techniques used up close and understand how a tree is worked and transformed over time. Luis Vallejo and Jorge Campos are the invited artists, with exhibitions conceived from their collections. The congress is an opportunity for sharing knowledge between specialists and the public, but it is not directed only at those who already practice bonsai: the organization also wants to bring this art closer to those who have never had direct contact with it. Admission is free.
