Digger is a satirical black comedy directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, the Mexican filmmaker behind Amores Perros, Birdman and The Revenant. It is his first time working with Tom Cruise, who also produces the film. Cruise plays Digger Rockwell, a outspoken oil magnate, middle-aged and carrying considerable extra weight. The story begins with a global environmental catastrophe that Digger himself may have caused. The President of the United States, played by John Goodman, asks him to resolve it, and he embarks on a race to establish himself as humanity's savior before the disaster destroys everything. The cast also includes Riz Ahmed, Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg and Jesse Plemons. It is a political satire about power, money and climate, with a tone very different from Cruise's usual roles. The screening is at the CAE Auditorium in Sever do Vouga and the age rating is M/16.
