"From Sea to Aquarium – The Biology of Cod" is a temporary exhibition at the Maritime Museum of Ílhavo. It presents cod from a scientific perspective, following the museum's previous focus on the fishing history and life aboard ships. The exhibition explores the biology of the species: the habitats where it lives, life cycles and the challenges it faces in an ocean undergoing environmental change. The exhibition connects to the museum's Cod Aquarium, where visitors can see the fish live. It is a rewarding visit for families, students and those curious about the sea, as well as for those already familiar with Ílhavo's cod-fishing heritage who wish to see another side of the subject. The exhibition also inspires a workshop for families with children aged 6 to 10, which explores cod habitats and food chains in an interactive way.
