A temporary exhibition at the Museu Vista Alegre dedicated to the life of faith and work at the Lugar da Vista Alegre, in Ílhavo. The title combines two sounds that marked the daily life of the working-class neighbourhood: the chapel bell and the factory whistle. The exhibition begins with a chronological route to explore the religious dimension linked to the worship of Nossa Senhora da Penha de França, patroness of the Factory and the Lugar. Devotion emerges as a factor of identity, guardian of memory and link between local communities. It also reflects on the celebration in honour of the patroness as a physical and symbolic space for cultural and corporate affirmation. It is a visit for those who want to know the social history of Vista Alegre beyond porcelain: the traditions, the people and the connection between the factory, the neighbourhood and the chapel.
