About
"No Land in Sight" brings together 108 works from the Norlinda and José Lima Modern and Contemporary Art Collection, in a new reading of the collection made by Galician curator Paula Cabaleiro. The title comes from the latest book of poems by Serbian-American writer Charles Simic, "No Land in Sight" (2022). The image of sailing without a horizon serves to speak of the uncertainties of the present. The exhibition brings together artists from various generations, origins and techniques, including Helena Almeida, Paula Rego, Julião Sarmento, Pedro Cabrita Reis, Cindy Sherman, Anish Kapoor and Vanessa Beecroft. The works intersect around war and conflict, disinformation, migration and hate speech, climate change, inequalities and gender violence. Some pieces have audio description. The exhibition aims to be a space for encounter and critical thought, without shying away from conflict, and also seeks signs of solidarity and hope. Throughout the months there are guided visits, a conversation with artists and various performances.
