Glenn Miller Orchestra
About
The Glenn Miller Orchestra, conducted by maestro Ray McVay, returns to Portugal with a Christmas concert dedicated to the repertoire of the great big bands. On stage are 21 musicians and singers, who perform some of Glenn Miller's most emblematic themes, such as Moonlight Serenade, In the Mood, Tuxedo Junction and Chattanooga Choo Choo. To the classical swing repertoire are added songs from the Christmas season, including Santa Claus Is Coming to Town and Jingle Bells, with the jazz sound characteristic of this type of orchestra. The concert revisits one of the most remarkable periods in the history of jazz and swing. The orchestra was founded in 1956 and keeps Glenn Miller's music alive. It is a show designed for a very diverse audience, from those who know the repertoire well to families looking for a different Christmas concert.
