Joana Espadinha
Sons no Património
About
Joana Espadinha is a singer-songwriter from Lisbon and brings to Arouca a concert of pop songs with roots in jazz. She graduated in Law, but pursued music: she studied at Hot Clube de Portugal and later at the Amsterdam Conservatoire, where she graduated in jazz. She released "Avesso" (2014), "O Material Tem Sempre Razão" (2018) and "Ninguém nos vai tirar o sol" (2021), and the song "Leva-me a dançar" was nominated for the Prémio Autores. Her most recent album is "Vergonha Na Cara". What distinguishes her most are the lyrics. They are written in the first person, with humour, irony and frankness, and are based on pop and folk melodies with jazz arrangements. The concert takes place at Praça Brandão de Vasconcelos and is part of Sons no Património, which reaches its 9th edition. The cycle brings 17 concerts to 17 locations in the Porto Metropolitan Area, with guided tours and other activities around each space. It serves both for those who already know Joana's songs and for those hearing her for the first time.
