"Nós, sozinhas" is a theatrical monologue with text, direction and performance by Sara Barros Leitão, presented with the Cassandra company. The title comes from a verse by Maria Teresa Horta. The piece starts from the history of abortion in Portugal, almost two decades after decriminalization at the woman's request. It has female solidarity and networks of shared knowledge as its guiding thread: there is always someone who knows someone, who shows the way or who takes you there. Along the way, it revisits the trials, the two referendums and the civil society mobilization that transformed the country. The performance features set design and costumes by Catarina Barros, lighting design by Diogo Marques and sound design by Bernardo Afonso. It is a co-production of several cultural institutions, including 23 Milhas, Teatro Viriato, Theatro Circo and Teatro Municipal de Matosinhos. It lasts approximately one hour and the age rating indicated at the box office is for ages 14 and above.
