O Amor É Assim

About

O Amor É Assim is the Portuguese adaptation of Run for Your Wife, a comedy by Ray Cooney that ran for nine consecutive years in London's West End, reached Broadway and was performed in more than 50 countries. Joaquim Baião leads an apparently exemplary life: organized, punctual and methodical, he maintains two houses, two routines and two women, Bárbara and Prazeres, without anyone suspecting. A small mishap ruins everything and, from then on, the lies multiply, unexpected phone calls, curious neighbours, persistent police officers and a friend unable to maintain a coherent story. João Baião stars and directs the production with Fernando Gomes. The cast also includes Cristina Oliveira, Mané Ribeiro, Luís Garcia, João Frizza, João Lopes and Susana Cacela. It is a fast-paced comedy, made of a chain of misunderstandings, for those who love to laugh at theatre of deception.
