About
The Choir of Lovers is the first theatrical work written by Tiago Rodrigues, premiered at Culturgest in 2007. It is a choral piece and a lyrical narrative in which a young couple tells, in two voices, the life-or-death situation they experience when one of them can no longer breathe. The two actors recount slightly different versions of the same events, in a celebration of the vital force of love when everything else is called into question. The piece has grown over time. The first part was created in 2006 for the performance Urgências, at Teatro Maria Matos; in 2007 two more parts were added for Duas Metades, at Culturgest. In 2021, Tiago Rodrigues added a final part, with a song, where he writes about the passage of time and what happens in the lives of the lovers after a love that defied death. The co-creation and performance are by Cláudia Gaiolas and Tónan Quito, in a production by HomemBala. It has a duration of 60 minutes.
