O Salvado
About
O Salvado is a solo dance-theater work created and performed by Olga Roriz, one of the most recognized choreographers of contemporary Portuguese dance, who founded her company in 1992 and this year received the Medal of Cultural Merit. The piece was co-produced by São Luiz Teatro Municipal, Teatro Nacional São João, Teatro Aveirense and Cineteatro Louletano. The starting point is an open question: what can be saved after a shipwreck? Olga Roriz looks at an existence of seven decades and searches for what remained clinging to the body and to time, and what can still be set free to become matter, memory and presence. Over the course of a year and six artistic residencies, the solo took shape as a map of gestures, images, traces and words, in which remembrance and forgetting intertwine. It is a show for those who appreciate contemporary dance and works of great intimacy, in which a performer with decades of stage experience revisits her own body and her history.
