Rodrigo Leão: "O Rapaz da Montanha"

About

Rodrigo Leão presents live «O Rapaz da Montanha», the album he released in April 2025, more than three decades after beginning his solo career. A musician and composer, he started in Sétima Legião and was a member of Madredeus, and has built a body of work between classical music, pop and Portuguese sonorities. This album marks a shift. Rodrigo Leão himself considers it the most Portuguese he has recorded: the choruses give it a collective sense and the marked percussion echoes Portuguese singer-songwriters from the 1970s. The lyrics, mostly by Ana Carolina Costa, replace the abstract melancholy of other works with more direct language that addresses a difficult reality. The album emerged from the song «Cadeira Preta» and features the voice of Ana Vieira as its central figure. This is a concert for those who have followed Rodrigo Leão since the days of Sétima Legião and for those who want to discover the more distinctive and socially conscious side of his music.
