Sonar Sound is a sound installation by Sonoscopia, a Porto-based association dedicated to experimental music creation, presented in the Exhibition Hall of Cineteatro Alba, in Albergaria-a-Velha. It is part of the 11th edition of MI - Festival of Music and Creative Childhood, promoted by SAC - Creative Learning Service. At the center of the installation is an iconic instrument, the pipe organ, in a robotic version. Computerized systems control it and make it more accessible to those who experience it, freeing it from the physical limitations of the human body so that attention can focus on purely musical expression. The conception and creation are by Gustavo Costa, the design and construction by Miguel Ferraz, with construction support and consultancy from Oficina e Escola de Organaria de Pedro Guimarães and Luís Ventura. The festival is aimed at children, families and educators, and this installation is a proposal to explore sound and music in a creative way.
