The Moment / Fragment Paths, de Mami Higuchi
About
The Moment / Fragment Paths is a printmaking exhibition by Japanese artist Mami Higuchi, opening to the public at the Museu do Papel Terras de Santa Maria, in Paços de Brandão. The opening is part of the Semana Aberta, which marks the 25th anniversary of the museum, dedicated to preserving the memory of the paper industry in the municipality. Mami Higuchi was born in 1970 in Fukushima and studied at the Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts. She lives in Portugal, where she worked with a grant from the POLA Foundation and was co-founder of the Matriz printmaking association in Porto. Her work is held in collections in Japan and Russia, and she has exhibited in Japan, Portugal and other countries. The exhibition places printmaking, an art form created on paper, within a museum that preserves the history of this material. In the afternoon of the opening, the programme continues with the concert 和・Oneness, by Yuki Rodrigues and invited Portuguese and Japanese artists, which brings together piano, violin, Wadaiko, transverse flute and bilingual recitation.
