"This is not a protest" de São Castro
About
"This is not a protest" is a contemporary dance creation with choreographic direction by São Castro, which combines live music and movement. It emerges from a partnership between the Play False association and the Percussion Group of the Escola Profissional de Música de Espinho, and is co-produced by Auditório de Espinho. The piece stems from the idea of impact, whether sonic, physical or collective. In percussion, a beat or collision interrupts silence and provokes a reaction; in the body, presence responds with intensity. How do we measure impact, when it depends on who receives and interprets it? The performance is situated in the interval between what we see and what it represents, and questions freedom of movement, the ambiguity of gesture and what it means to be in a collective, at a time when bodies can have a political dimension. On stage are four dancers and four percussionists from EPME, with musical direction by Rui Rodrigues.
