VI FIOMS - Concerto em Arouca
About
Organ concert at the Cathedral of Arouca Monastery, part of the VI edition of FIOMS (International Festival of Organ and Sacred Music), which this year reaches 11 municipalities in the North and is again part of the Route of Organs in the North. The protagonist is Spanish organist Juan de la Rubia, titular organist of the Sagrada Família Basilica in Barcelona, and professor at the Superior School of Music of Catalonia. He trained in organ, piano and harpsichord in Valencia, Barcelona, Berlin and Toulouse, and has performed in approximately thirty countries, in venues such as the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg and the Konzerthaus in Berlin. His repertoire ranges from early music to contemporary creation and he is particularly recognized for his improvisation. The Arouca programme is not detailed. In a recent concert at Porto Cathedral, Juan de la Rubia presented works by Bach, Jehan Alain, Max Reger and Philip Glass around chaconnes and passacaglias. It is a good opportunity to hear organ live in a heritage space, with free admission.
